Easy 5 Ingredient Refined Sugar-Free Granola

The perfect quick breakfast solution to have on hand.

Granola on a pan.

Granola in a glass jar.

This is my favourite breakfast recipe to have on hand when we're on the go and I haven't had time to cook. It's the perfect protein-dense alternative to sugary cereals and it's quick and oh-so-simple to make!

“Do you know what breakfast cereal is made of? It's made of all those little curly wooden shavings you find in pencil sharpeners!” Roald Dahl

I do wonder if Roald Dahl was right! At the rate my children run out of energy when they've had a bowl of cornflakes, it seems just about as nutritious as a bowl of pencil shavings!

This recipe is not only easy, it is versatile. You can use whatever nuts or seeds you have in the pantry. You can also sub some of the nuts for dried fruit... or even chocolate chips if you fancy a decadent breakfast! So without further ado, let's jump in to my Easy 5 Ingredient Refined Sugar-Free Granola recipe!

Easy 5 Ingredient Refined Sugar-Free Granola

Ingredients

  • 4 cups rolled oats

  • 1 cup nuts

  • 1/2 cup seeds

  • 5 tablespoons honey or maple syrup

  • 4 tablespoons coconut oil

Directions

  1. Measure out and mix the oats, nuts and seeds in a large bowl.

  2. Add the coconut oil and honey (or maple syrup) and mix together with your hands, ensuring all of the mixture is covered.

  3. Pour the mixture onto a couple of baking sheets. Make sure the mixture is spread out but squeeze together small clumps to make clusters.

  4. Pop into the oven at 180' and check after 8-10 minutes. When the mixture is a golden brown colour, remove from the oven to cool. NB do not scoop the mixture up until it's cool otherwise you won't get those crunchy clusters!

You can store your granola in an airtight jar for 2 weeks (though mine never seems to hang around for that long!)

Did you enjoy this granola? We'd love to hear from you in the comments!
