Easy Refined Sugar Free Apple Flapjacks
Healthy flapjacks that actually taste good? I've been making this recipe for years now and it never fails to impress!
Instead of using refined sugars such as caster or golden syrup, this recipe uses coconut sugar and honey.
It makes a great snack and I don't even feel too guilty about the children eating these for breakfast!
Easy Refined Sugar Free Apple Flapjacks
Ingredients
115g butter
75g coconut sugar
3 tablespoons honey
250g rolled oats
1 heaped teaspoon cinnamon
2 dessert apples
Directions
Measure out and mix the butter, coconut sugar and honey in a saucepan.
Meanwhile, grate the apples (skin on) with the large side of the grater.
When the mixture is melted, add the rolled oats and cinnamon and stir.
Next, fold in the grated apple.
Put into a baking dish and pop into the oven at 180' for about 30 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from the oven to cool and then slice into portions.
This generally keeps for around a week when stored in an airtight container (if they hang around for that long!).
Oh, and if you're feeling cheeky (or are a chocoholic like my dear friend Anna!), feel free to sprinkle some chocolate chips on top before putting into the oven!
