Lavender London Fog
Each Summer I have an overabundance of lavender to harvest from my garden, I then dry it and have a stock of it in my pantry all year round. Steeping lavender in my tea has been a great way for me to enjoy it's floral taste over the winter whilst utilizing its benefits for my anxiety.
Drinking lavender tea also has many other health benefits: it can help insomnia, it kills bacteria, it can alleviate PMS symptoms, and it may help improve cardiovascular health.
What I love about this recipe is that the lavender isn't overpowering, like drinking pure lavender herbal tea can be. It is perfect for a mid-afternoon treat on a dreary winter's day!
I have been making this for years now, and have fond memories of drinking this every day when heavily pregnant with my daughter. (My labour was very relaxed with her haha!)
I hope that you enjoy this quick Lavender London Fog recipe too!
Lavender London Fog Ingredients:
One Earl Grey Tea bag (or loose leaf)
1 teaspoon of dried Lavender
2 teaspoons of coconut sugar
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
1/2 mug of milk of choice
A pinch of pink Himalayan salt
Extra Lavender for sprinkling on top (if desired)
Equipment needed: automatic or hand milk frother, kettle, tea leaf infuser, mug, and a teaspoon
Note: If you do not have a tea leaf infuser, you can steep the lavender and tea in a mug then strain it out into another mug.
Milk- I used unsweetened oat milk for this recipe, I have made this with regular whole milk successfully too. I am sure any milk will do, just keep in mind if your milk is already sweetened you may want to add less sweetener.
Instructions:
Gather ingredients. Start to boil the kettle.
Measure your milk in your mug (you want about half the size of your mug of milk). Place the milk in a milk frother, or pan if using a hand frother. Add the coconut sugar, salt, and vanilla extract.
Froth the milk and other ingredients together!
Place your earl grey tea in a mug with a pinch of dried lavender in a tea leaf infuser.
Add boiling water to tea bag and lavender- let it steep about 5 minutes or to desired strength. (Just keep in mind that you want it a little stronger than usual as you'll be adding lots of milk!)
Remove lavender and tea bag, add frothed milk. Top it off with a little sprinkle of dried lavender!
